Passion vs discipline/resilience

In the wise words of Steve Jobs Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” Granted one cannot survive on motivation alone:  resilience, self discipline and an open mind goes a long way in any or aspect of earning a living or building a business.

The role of lifestyle shifts & in career paths

Honestly, when it comes to the various ways of making/earning an income many of us often debate whether to pursue the conventional 8am-5pm, start our own businesses or freelance. We’re probably part of the fastest-paced and trend-following generation of all 4 revolutions. Gone are the days of being boxed into only one profession or pursuing a career in alignment to ones academic qualifications. Secondly the cost of living has increased along with social/day to day expenses. The world demographic is shifting along with its careers for example;the Gig Economy-a labour market characterized by the prevalence of short-term contracts or freelance work as opposed to permanent jobs” &  the Knowledge-based economy according to Investopia is “is a system of consumption and production that is based on intellectual capital.”

If one is to consider starting a business or freelance, thorough research of where the country or continent is heading & what are the gaps that need to be filled:where does the opportunity lie.

What to consider when 1-freelancing , 2-Starting a Business.

For freelancers, an article by the World Economic Forum titled ;The Future of work could lie in Freelancing-Freelancers constitute a diverse population of workers – their educational backgrounds, motivations, ambitions, needs, and willingness to work differ from one worker to the next. It is advisory to consider steady transition into the market, meaning one does not necessarily have to leave their job when freelancing. In extension, with an ever changing work environment, human resources dispensable to some extent, this only makes job security a definite challenge. The effect of globalization on any business is essential to take note of at all costs: an issue for the employee & employer.

For entrepreneurs ,there is a well known saying The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.” , starting a business is no easy fleet but it can be done if structured well and invested in with commitment. One thing to highlight about starting a business made is that you are a full-time employee to the company, it is your baby/brain-child after all, it will take nurturing & thorough market research not only on how to run a business but innovate before you evaporate. When you first venture out into business, there are multiple angles of approach to how you structure your business..
